There's Something Rotten in the State of America
While I admit that the occupy wall street movement has lost some of its steam since its hard-hitting and energetic beginning, the current happening documented by the many cell phone cameras and photographs are a bit disturbing. The videos of the copious amount of pepper spray being used on protesters in Oakland and UC Davis and other places seem to yell out the desperation of the law enforcement against these protestors. Whether they act like this because they were ordered to do so or whether it is their instinct I am not certain. I do know that in order for these police to use this kind of force at the risk of being charged with brutality indicates that these officials have been authorized to use more force than in a different less dire situation. It makes me wonder just how threatened the federal government is by the Occupy Wall Street Movement. Would a federal official authorize the use of pepper spray on protestors? Or is it just unauthorized action the police are taking. A movement that seeks to restructure the way corporations interact with government SHOULD be something that the feds are worried about. Then again, the national government may still be in the phase of the protest where they ignore the protestors. I can easily see the federal government soon in the future starting to make fun of the entire movement. And, if you know the expression, perhaps the movement will inevitably win.
